Traditional string pull cords used on nurse call systems, disabled toilet alarms, and lighting pulls are a common source of infection transfer in hospitals, clinics, and care homes.
Conventional ceiling pull cords are typically made from twisted fibre string with attached grasp handles. In practice, users often pull the string itself rather than the handle, allowing bacteria to collect on the surface and within the fibres. These fibre-based pull cords are difficult to clean effectively, as bacteria can embed within the material and reappear after cleaning.
The Sanipull anti-ligature hygienic pull cord provides a safer, more hygienic alternative. Manufactured from a strong and durable vinyl ribbon, it features a smooth, non-porous surface that can be easily cleaned with a simple disinfectant wipe. With no internal fibres, bacteria cannot hide, grow, or resurface.
The highly visible ribbon improves usability, while a range of compatible ancillaries allows connection to standard ceiling pull switches. Ergonomically designed grasp handles are also available, ensuring ease of use and full compliance with HTM 08-03.
